Kristin’s Story

Beta Rho was grateful to be 1 of 20 chapters to have received a $3,000 grant from headquarters to host speaker, Andrea Cooper.

On New Year’s Eve 1995, Kristin Cooper, a 20-year old Alpha Chi Omega, committed suicide after being raped by a friend. In 1998, Andrea Cooper, Kristin’s mother and member of Delta Delta Delta, decided to share Kristin’s Story with men and women on campuses across the country. This speech is a mother’s account of acquaintance rape, depression, and suicide as witnessed with her daughter.
